bellydancers at witchcliffeZahrat al Kalb, Flowers of the Soul, is a group of local women who want to share the fun and fitness this dance provides.

Commonly known as bellydancing, more properly called Middle eastern dance, it transcends many nations and cultures.

The origins of the dance date back to ancient fertility rites. All the moves and steps are symbolic and formulaic.

It suits all sorts, from pre-primary to the elderly, and provides fitness, strength, balance, self-expression and reveals individual beauty.

Traditionally it was a dance performed by women for women, however, in modern times the dance has become an expression of festivity. Men also participate usually dancing with sticks and swords.

We hold classes on Tuesday mornings at the Witchcliffe Hall. We welcome beginners and inquiries and are available for weddings, parties or anything!

Any queries please call Julie on 9757 2892 or Sally 9757 6267.
