Bec Juniper inspired by the goldfields

bec1.jpgA recent journey through the ancient land of WA’s northern goldfield country provides the inspiration for Bec Junipers latest paintings that will be on show at the margaret river gallery from December 29-january 14.

“I always get the sense that the desert has ghosts - that you’re somehow being observed when you’re out there,” said Bec.

“The Aboriginal culture and the more recent fortune-seekers of the gold rush period layer over each other in contradiction, both visible and hidden full of their own ‘secrets and myths’. ”

The haunting of this expansive and primitive landscape is captured throughout this exceptional body of work titled 3000km.

Paul Kelly at Xanadu

One of Australia’s finest song writers returns to Western Australia to perform at the picturesque Xanadu Winery in Margaret River.

paulkelly.jpgFrom very early in his career Paul Kelly has been recognised as one of the most significant singer/songwriters in the country.

Inspired initially by the likes of Bob Dylan, Hank Williams, Lou Reed and Ray Davies, Kelly’s narrative song writing is infused with wry observations, bittersweet emotions and enormous appeal.

Described with the simple headline “Paul Kelly, Inspirational”, and “Has Paul Kelly ever played a dud gig?”, and declared by Polly Coufos of the Perth Sunday Times, to be “So good in fact it’s frightening” his reviews speak for themselves.

Performing in the scenic surroundings of the award winning Xanadu Wines, with his five piece band, consisting of nephew Dan Kelly, Even leader Ash Naylor, Cameron Bruce and long time rhythm section Peter Luscombe and Bill McDonald, this is a show not to be missed!
