Proceeds

The proceeds from the 2010 Fun Run and Walk are being used to fund an emergency response shelter at the local airstrip which will house water pumping equipment to allow for quick access by water bombing planes.

The pumping equipment has previously been stored in the town and volunteers have had to take it out to the airstrip each time there is a bushfire.

Having the equipment on site and easily accessible by the many volunteers who will, in future, be able to go directly to the airstrip when there is a fire, will save valuable time in refilling the water bombers.

The Rotary Club of Margaret River recognises the importance of the community’s vulnerability to fire and the need for the community to be as fire ready as is humanly possible.

The project will be completed in concert with the Department of Conservation, the Shire of Augusta Margaret River, Fire and Emergency Services but was initiated by the Rotary Club of Margaret River.

Proceeds from the 2011 will go to similar community projects
