mammals Our record of looking after our wildlife is a sorry one as you will see from reading about these animals. These are just a few of the creatures around us. Many of the animals in this section are facing extinction, joining a shameful number that will never again be seen. Land clearing, predation by introduced species such as cats and foxes, and outright slaughter by humans are responsible for the demise of our wildlife. Programs such as fox baiting are starting to have a positive effect, but habitat destruction is still a big problem. |
