Cowaramup Primary School
Cowaramup Primary School offers a caring, friendly and community focused culture, a reflection of the little town itself. The school was established on Bussell Highway in the 1920s and moved to its peaceful location on Waverley Road in the 1950s.
Cowaramup Primary School has pretty grounds, surrounded by large open recreational
areas and bordered by a native garden, established by local community group ‘Ribbon’s
of Blue’, that separates the school from a new housing estate.
In 2005 there are 180 students enrolled at Cowaramup Primary School from kindergarten to year seven with three school bus services transporting children from throughout the rural community.
The school’s population is expected to increase considerably in the coming years due to the planned and predicted growth of the area.
Cowaramup Primary School’s specialises in the Arts with students participating in an eclectic mix of musical and theatrical activities and encouraged to take creative risks in a supportive and nurturing environment. The school curriculum includes a focus on Information Technology and every classroom has at least four computers.
Cowaramup Primary School has a very active Parents and Citizens Association that receives generous financial support and assistance from local businesses and community groups. With the support of the close-knit community, the school has created the ‘Activity Centre’ which continues to develop as a creative space for drama, music and student performances.
The school’s annual fundraising events receive tremendous community
support and Cowaramup has a very popular BMX Club, in which many students
are involved, that was built by local community members on volunteer time.
The Ian Bremner Scholarship Trust provides annual educational assistance to a Cowaramup Primary School student entering secondary school. This prestigious award is given to a student who shows outstanding attributes in all areas.
