St. Thomas More Catholic Primary School
St. Thomas More Catholic Primary School opened in 1993 and is situated on Wallcliffe Road, Margaret River, adjacent to the beautiful St. Thomas More Church, part of the Augusta Margaret River Parish.
The vision of the school is “a community growing together in faith
where children are offered opportunities to know and love Jesus, to seek
wisdom and to develop respect for the rights and dignity of all.”
In 2005 the school has 251 students enrolled from kindergarten through to year seven, with class sizes averaging 30 students. Steve Versteegen has been the Principal of the school for the past seven years.
St. Thomas More Catholic Primary School specialises in Arts and Music, offering a senior choir that children are encouraged to audition for and a specialist Art teacher who provides tuition to each class once a week. Indonesian language studies comprise part of the education syllabus for students in grade three to grade seven.
The school “is a community of faith whose values, policies and daily practices support the belief that each person is made in God’s image and therefore possesses an innate dignity and ability to reflect God.”
St. Thomas More Catholic Primary School has a very strong and supportive
Parents and Friends Association, members of which have worked in collaboration
with the entire school community to create the school’s amphitheatre-style
oval.
The project is due for completion in 2005, after eight years of planning and fundraising, and will provide seating for hundreds of community members to view sporting competitions, school performances and special religious events.
