The Margaret River congregation has been strongly involved in the life
of the community.
In the mid 1990s it resolved to appoint a Community
Youth Worker in the district. That ministry continued for four
years. An evaluation took place and it was further decided that we should
then focus on family ministry.
At the turn of the 20th century it resolved to become intentionally involved
in helping to set up the District High School Mentor Programme and
twelve members of the congregation became Mentors.
The Mentor Programme,
now operating in two primary schools and the District High School, is operated by
the wider community.
In 2004 the congregation resolved to set up an Intergenerational Play Group. The age range of those involved in the Play Group range from 2 years to 88 years. An intergenerational playgroup meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings 9am – 11am. Each group consists of children 0-4years The group consists of children 0-4years and their parent, and seniors over 65.
It operates the same as a normal playgroup while giving both groups an
opportunity to enjoy each others company on an informal basis.
New members are welcome and transport can be arranged if needed.
